Hi and welcome to Neni’s Kitchen!
I am happy you made it to my site and hope you enjoy the recipes and ideas I’m sharing here. You will find some (hopefully one day many) recipes on this site which are my own creations.
I’m in my mid-twenties and work in finance during the day and go on culinary adventures at night. I’m Austrian-born and currently live and work in Vienna. Because I like a change of scenery every once in a while I have also lived in the US, Hong Kong, Nairobi and Barcelona before returning to Vienna. Generally speaking, I am a very happy person and have a smile on my face most of the time. Usually people notice I’m around because they can hear me laugh from the distance.
Cooking and experimenting with food is something I really love doing, which is why I decided to start this blog and to see where this will take me. Food is not just a function that keeps your body going to me, but so much more. When I look at a dish I see love, passion, beauty and creativity. So really, food is very much about emotion to me. I’ve already learned a lot and it’ just been the most amazing journey so far. Creating recipes, cooking for my friends, reflecting on flavors and combinations, … And it just keeps getting better! 🙂
I can spend hours every day just thinking about which flavors and textures would taste nicely together and I love to try new things. Also, it relaxes me to spend time in the kitchen preparing food and eating it afterwards, obviously. Using fresh ingredients is very important to me and I’ll try to keep it as natural as possible.
As of cooking style, I enjoy traveling very much and like to get inspiration from my travels. I especially like Mediterranean flavors. Trying different foods and mixing flavors is great and fun and full of surprises, which is why I sometimes just mix new flavors with elements of traditional Austrian cuisine. At other times, I’ll just start cooking and see what happens, which is always a lot of fun.
the ocean, sunshine, gin tonic, open-minded and straight-forward people, backpacking adventures, any kind of ravioli, exploring new places, late-night pizza, spending the evening at a nice restaurant, Jon Stewart and beach volleyball
I don’t like
cold & grey weather, capers, low-quality spirits, driving, people who are always stressed out (chill, people, everything’s gonna work out eventually!), oversleeping, anything that has liver in it (my body is the exception), burning food
This blog is called Neni’s Kitchen, because my younger sisters have been calling me Neni ever since I can remember, hence the name.
Thanks again for being here and checking out my site. If you have any questions or ideas you want to tell me about, feel free to leave comments or message me. Also, I would really appreciate feedback on my recipes and photos. As I said, this is a learning process and I’m happy about any feedback and help I can get!
