Indian curry, sweet & spicy chutney and cooling yoghurt
This recipe has been on my mind for quite a while now, but you know how it is, life’s busy and somehow I never managed to sit down and poor it into a new blog entry. So I’m happy to finally be publishing another post🙂
I really like this dish, because the flavors complement each other perfectly and the chutney is – also as a stand-alone – brilliant. You have Indian-inspired curried fish, soft potato, and this warming sweet & spicy tomato chutney with a hint of coriander that aligns well with the curry flavor. Carrot and peas give it a certain lightness and adding a dollop of fresh natural yoghurt and some cooling cucumber on the side to balance everything beautifully. Continue reading
Easy & healthy dish with tons of fresh spring flavors
Spring is super awesome, because of all these fresh vegetables that are now in season… asparagus, green beans, spring onions and friends – here we come!
As it gets warmer it’s time for some light lunch recipes.🙂
This recipe is really nice, because it’s very light, easy to prepare and comes with a refreshing white wine sauce – you’ll love it!
Sunday morning brunch perfection
Close your eyes and imagine the sun shining in through the windows and your whole apartment or house is filled with the smell of fresh bread. Amazing, isn’t it? For me, this is the picture of Sunday morning. Add a good cup of coffee and we’re right at perfection.
This plait is heavenly, because it’s texture is so soft and fluffy, it’s fantastic. I added some lavender and lemon zest, which gives the plait and amazing delicate flavor. It’s perfect for a lazy Sunday morning brunch with family and friends.
Light, fresh & delicate spring dumplings
These dumplings are so delicate in flavor and soft in texture, it’s fantastic. They are the perfect incorporation of spring flavors for me. There is this hint of fresh lemon, basil and fragrant ramson. Brown butter and parmesan add just the right amount of warmth, comfort and substance. Last but not least, I boiled some cherry tomatoes to contrast ramson and spinach, which works very well🙂.
So good you’ll start to glow while eating
When I was in the hospital in Durban and completely vitamin drained and disheartened from 3 weeks of hospital food my good friend Jackie’s brother and his wife popped in to bring me a super green vegan pizza – I think it was the best food I’ve ever tasted!
This is my take on that pizza, and although it’s not vegan, it’s pretty fantastic! It’s packed with vegetables, sprouts, hummus, avocado and makes you feel healthier, energized, happy and satisfied🙂
It features a whole-grain base that resembles tarte flambée more than normal pizza dough, but that has the advantage that it doesn’t need proofing. The advantage is that it do Alfalafa sprouts, chickpeas, yoghurt and avocado provide you with good protein, plenty of vitamin Bs, monosaturated fatty acids and ample amounts of vitamins and minerals, so it’s a real brain-power booster🙂 The wholegrain base and the hummus will also make sure that you feel repleted longer.
Alright guys, I’m hungry and keen on having on of these babies, so let’s get started!🙂
Incredibly fresh, light and delicious summer dessert
I am currently staying at the Hibiscus Coast in South Africa and had the pleasure of cooking a meal for my kind of adopted family here. The main course was duck, so I was looking for a very light, yet delicious dessert and after finding amazingly ripe mangoes, nectarines and bananas in the kitchen I thought of this light and fresh yoghurt tart.
It is super easy to make and the yoghurt and lemon combo gives in an incredible freshness with is complemented perfectly by the fruits’ sweetness. The secret is the lime zest, though, which will give your tart just this little something. Needless to say, it’s quite healthy for a dessert due to yoghurt and fruits🙂
So let’s do it, I promise you’re going to love it!🙂
Spiced sweetness for cold & rainy days – a delight for your taste buds
I met Patricia, one of my good friends, the other day and asked her what my newest recipe for the blog should be. I feel like I’ve been making plenty of sweets recently and was looking for something savory, yet easy and winter-like. She told me to make roast apples, but I thought it was another sweet dish. So jokingly she said: “Well, make savory roast apples then.” And, quite frankly, I thought the idea was brilliant.

Warming winter deliciousness
Christmas is almost around the corner so I figured it’s time to get out these winter flavors. Do you know the feeling when you’re baking something, your whole apartment smalls of it and you just wander around absorbing the amazing smell and feeling genuinely happy and excited about eating your treat? I’ve been doing that a lot while baking this loaf🙂
This dark chocolate & orange banana loaf is simply great. It has an intense dark chocolate aroma which is complemented by warming orange and crunchy walnut bits. It’s basically like eating a dark-chocolate&orange truffle.🙂 Continue reading
Delicious winter treat for a day cuddling on the couch
Hmmmmm these buns are just super awesome! They are so warming and delicious, perfect for a day when it’s cold and grey outside and you just want to cuddle up on your couch with a blanket and a cup of tea. The great thing? They are also healthy🙂
I used spelt and rye flour, so these treats are very wholesome. Also, cinnamon, apple and honey in combination with the sweetness of the raisins and the distinct rye flavor remind me a lot of ginger bread – perfect for the season! Crunchy almonds complement the whole ginger bread idea perfectly. Additionally, they are high in protein, provide healthy omega 3 fatty acids, and, just like raisins, are high in minerals and bring a lovely sweetness. Cinnamon gets your metabolism going and last but not least apple provides vitamins and fiber. Not to forget that cinnamon-apple-raisin combos are simply to die for🙂
